Evelyn Liang

EVELYN LIANG is 13 years old, and is currently preparing for the RCM Associate Diploma in Piano Performance. In June 2016, Evelyn completed Grade 10 Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music, receiving First Class Honours with Distinction with a mark of 94%.

Evelyn began piano lessons at the age of four in China, and upon moving to Canada in 2013 began lessons with Cheryl Graham at the grade eight level with her father translating the lessons. Evelyn is the recipient of many awards, including the Barrie Music Festival 2016 Senior Rose Bowl, and she was the 2015 Ontario Music Festival Association Provincial Competition 1st place winner for Grade 9 Piano. Evelyn has also been awarded scholarships for “Best in Bach” from the Pickering Rotary Music Festival, Senior and Advanced Piano Outstanding Performer Awards at the Barrie Music Festival, as well as 1st place in Senior Piano, Best Performance of a Romantic Work, and Best Duet Performance Scholarship along with her duet partner Nissita Francis at the South Simcoe Music Festival.

In February 2017, Evelyn was invited to perform in the New York’s Carnegie Hall as a first place award winner in the Crescendo International Music Competition. Evelyn enjoys improvising and creating her own music. Her favourite composers are Beethoven, Debussy and Chopin.
